The Book: Simon the beetle goes out to play with his friends. He promises his mother, however, to return for lunch. The kids start playing, along with a snail that recently moved into the neighborhood. Simon is afraid that the slime he leaves behind as he crawls will be the reason for others to tease him. However, the beetle's fears do not come true because when the group gets lost in the forest...

The Series: To ensure that children have a healthy social life built on effective relationships, they must cultivate empathy, the ability to put oneself in another's shoes, to understand and feel things the way another person experiences them. This need is addressed by the illustrated books in this series, which promote emotional intelligence. With the proposed approach for parents and educators, they attempt to introduce children to seeing the world through others' eyes, once they first learn to recognize and manage their own emotions.

The Author: Yoland Tsoroni-Georgiadi is a graduate of the Law School, the Pedagogical Academy, and the Pedagogical Department of the University of Athens, and has further training at the Marasleio Teaching College. She worked for many years in public education, writes articles for educational magazines, volunteers in organizations promoting literature, is an active member of the Women's Literary Society, and has published many books for children, novels for adults, and studies of folkloric content.
