The aim of the present work is to document and highlight the bloody endeavor of the Hellenism to overthrow the Ottoman yoke mainly through three key episodes, which are directly related to Messinia and its fighters on one hand, and on the other hand with the evolution and imposition of the Revolution throughout the Greek territory.
Of primary concern is certainly the highlighting, study, and interpretation of as many archival sources and compositions as possible, both of general and local history, that refer to the three major chapters of the work, which are briefly: first, the outbreak of the uprising in Kalamata and its liberation on March 23, 1821; second, the Battle of Maniaki on May 20, 1825 and Papaflessas; and finally, the naval battle at Navarino on October 8/20, 1827, and the European forces.
