The Penguin Readers is a series of ELT graded reader books for students of English as a foreign language. With carefully tailored text, new illustrations, and language learning exercises, the printed edition also includes instructions for accessing online supporting material. The titles include popular classic works, exciting modern fiction, and challenging non-fiction literature, introducing students to the most commercial authors and content that impress.

The eight levels of Penguin Readers follow the Common European Framework of Reference for Language Learning (CEFR). The exercises at the end of each Reader help students practice grammar, vocabulary, and basic exam skills. Questions before, during, and after reading assess understanding of the story and develop vocabulary.

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, Level 6 Reader, is B1+ in the CEFR framework. The longer text consists of sentences with up to four adverbial clauses, introducing the future perfect, reported questions, third conditional, and ellipsis. A small number of illustrations support the text.
