Description & Specifications

Fight for Survival

Welcome to the "Island of the Rats," in America, after a pandemic that has shattered the social fabric. Welcome to where the elite waits at the top of a skyscraper to leave the city while the masses struggle in the streets for their survival.

Science and destruction. A scientist studying the possibility of immortality has finally found a memory destroyer that will help him forget everything before it is too late. A psychologist with a dual identity uses his talents against a powerful cartel.

Blood ties and irresistible passions. Two brotherly friends travel to Pamplona to see the bullfights and ultimately fall in love with the same girl. An estranged son with a hidden agenda visits his father at a snake breeding farm in Africa.

The Island of the Rats is a collection of perfectly structured stories, full of suspense. The master of suspense at his best.

Verdens Gang In the Island of the Rats, Jo Nesbo is straightforward and precise, both in prose and in the structure and plot of each story. A true craftsman.

Read an excerpt

A ribbon waves lazily in the air, on the pole of a flag. I look down at the city from above. It seems strangely calm. But obviously, the human ants are chasing or being chased in the streets, not visible from the roof of a ninety-story skyscraper. The screams of those being hit or the pleas for mercy cannot be heard; nor the click of the hammer cocking. However, gunshots can be heard. And the lonely roar of a motorcycle. And the fires... the fires are visible now that night is falling. Although from up here everything looks tiny. The burning cars look like lanterns suddenly lighting up the city that hasn't seen its traffic lights working for over a year.
