What does the waterproof rating on camping tents indicate?
The waterproofing of a tent indicates how much water the outer fabric can repel. It is measured in millimeters (mm) and refers to how many millimeters of a vertical water column (and therefore pressure) a square centimeter of fabric can withstand without being penetrated by water.
The higher the degree of waterproofing, the less breathable the fabric is, and thus the warmer the tent. Common waterproofing values range from 500mm to 10000mm. Theoretically, any fabric with waterproofing >1000mm is considered waterproof. For example, a summer tent may have waterproofing from 500 to 1500mm.

Flawless in weight and comfortable if you want to be alone.
I endured 5+ hours of rain & 24-hour humidity in Taygetus in October, but it remained warm and dry inside.
In Tzoumerka in January with -4 at night and high humidity, with the right sleeping bag it's still OK, if you're alone.
Easy setup but do a practice run before you find yourself outdoors as you don't know what you'll encounter if you haven't set it up before. It has its own metal pegs, I also had my own larger ones for security.
Two people can fit to keep it warmer, but you need to keep your stuff outside the tent, which in winter is not the best option.
I envy the larger Salewa that has a vestibule (mainly for shoes) as it closes and secures it, unlike the Micra which is exposed to animals that might want to play, like foxes that might nibble on your boots and lose them in the forest.
But for carrying, the weight of the Micra makes it VFM and you have no reason to look at anything else!

Έφαγα 5+ ώρες βροχή & 24ωρη υγρασία Ταύγετο Οκτώβρη μήνα, όμως παρέμεινε ζεστή και στεγνή εσωτερικά.
Στα Τζουμέρκα Ιανουάριο με -4 το βράδυ και πολύ υγρασία, με το κατάλληλο sleeping bag είναι πάλι ΟΚ, αν είσαι μόνος σου.
Εύκολη τοποθέτηση αλλά κάνε μια προπόνηση στο στήσιμο πριν βρεθείς στην ύπαιθρο καθώς δεν ξέρεις τι θα συναντήσεις αν δεν την έχεις ξαναστήσει. Έχει δικά της μεταλλικά πειράκια, εγώ είχα και δικά μου πιο μεγάλα για σιγουριά.

Αλλά για κουβάλημα το βάρος της Micra την κάνει VFM και δεν έχεις λόγο να κοιτάξεις κάτι άλλο!
This is a very good choice, incredibly lightweight tent for hiking, and while it has been used in winter and autumn in normal rain and/or high humidity, nothing got inside the tent. It is somewhat small though, very comfortable for one person, for two people (thin) it is a bit cramped.

I just bought it for €200.
I set it up at home to test its materials and how quickly I can set it up.
I set it up in five minutes as the instructions are detailed but also guide you by hand.
The interior space is good for two people, although I will be using it alone, so it is more than enough.
There are several pockets for small items and to hang a flashlight.
There is also an internal zipper to allow the tent to breathe and to prevent moisture from our breath during sleep inside.
The tarp helps to leave your boots or things you don't want inside the tent.
In a few days, I will test it in the mountains, so then we will see practically how it performs, so I will get back to you soon.
*** 28/9/2024. Tested on Athos with wind in Vovousa with some humidity and in Pirin in Bulgaria under normal conditions, it performed just fine.
Of course, it hasn't faced rain yet, and I hope it never does.
Practically, it is as I wrote above, relatively light, sets up easily, and is quite convenient for getting in and out, for small items, and for setup.
As for the weight, I did Athos and also crossed Pirin 28 km, and it didn't strain me.

Την άπλωσα στο σπίτι για να τεσταρω τα υλικά της αλλα και το πόσο γρήγορα μπορώ να την στήσω.
Την έστησα σε πέντε λεπτά καθώς οι οδηγίες που γράφει είναι αναλυτικές αλλά σε πάει και μόνο του χέρι.
Ο εσωτερικός χώρος καλός για δύο άτομα αν και εγώ θα την χρησιμοποιώ μόνος μου οπότε είναι υπέρ αρκετός.
Υπάρχουν αρκετές θήκες για μικροαντικείμενα αλλά και για να κρεμάσεις φακό.
Υπάρχει επίσης εσωτερικό φερμουάρ για να αναπνέει η σκηνή και να μην δημιουργηθεί υγρασία από τα χνωτα μας κατά την διάρκεια του ύπνου εσωτερικά.
Η τέντα βοηθά να αφήσεις τις μπότες σου η και πράγματα που δεν τα θέλεις μέσα στην σκηνή.
Σε κάποιες μέρες θα την δοκιμάσω και στο βουνό οπότε τότε θα δούμε και πρακτικά πως τα πάει ,οπότε θα επανέλθω σύντομα.

Winter with a snowstorm in Vardousia, this guy nailed it.......With better grip, proper installation, and proper maintenance (not tightly wrapped in the case, and always "drying" even if it hasn't rained, installation-tightening every few months, as well as using a sun protective spray, it can withstand many years. Never machine wash. The double zipper got stuck because of lack of lubrication, so it's a dead end. Very good product.
Χειμώνα με χιονοθύελλα στα Βαρδούσια την έβγαλε παλληκάρι.......Με καλύτερα πασαλακια ,σωστό στήσιμο κ σωστή συντήρηση (! όχι τυλιγμένη στη θήκη σφιχτά,κ ΠΑΝΤΑ "στέγνωμα" κ ας μην έχει βραχει,κάθε λίγους μήνες στησιμο-ντεντωμα,όπως κ με συντηρητικό spray για τον ήλιο ,αντέχει πολλά πολλά χρόνια.Ποτέ πλύσιμο πλυντήριο.Μου κόλλησε το διπλό φερμουάρ λόγω μη λίπανσης του ,οπότε είναι μονόδρομο.Πολυ καλό προϊόν.
Excellent tent, excellent quality materials, fully waterproof, very lightweight for hiking-camping, multiple pockets on the sides, clothesline for drying clothes and flashlight placement, windproof entrance, just need to place it in the opposite direction of the wind. It sets up very easily and quickly by one person. It can fit two people, but I wouldn't recommend it. It comes with a repair kit. It is relatively expensive, but worth its money. I don't know how it behaves in wind, but it is low and compact, so I imagine it will be fine.

Υπάρχει επίσης εσωτερικό φερμουάρ για να αναπνέει η σκηνή και να μην δημιουργηθεί υγρασία από τα χνωτα μας κατά την διάρκεια του ύπνου εσωτερικά.
Η τέντα βοηθά να αφήσεις τις μπότες σου η και πράγματα που δεν τα θέλεις μέσα στην σκηνή.
Σε κάποιες μέρες θα την δοκιμάσω και στο βουνό οπότε τότε θα δούμε και πρακτικά πως τα πάει ,οπότε θα επανέλθω σύντομα.
*** 28/9/2024. Δοκιμασμένη στον Άθω με αέρα στην Βωβούσα με λίγο υγρασία και στο Πιρίν στην Βουλγαρία υπό κανονικές συνθήκες ανταπεξέλθει μια χαρά.
Βέβαια δεν έχει φάει βροχή ακόμη και ελπίζω να μην φάει ποτέ.
Πρακτικά είναι ότι έγραψα πιο πάνω, σχετικά μικρό το βάρος της στήνεται εύκολα και είναι αρκετά βολική στο μπες- βγες, στα μικροαντικείμενα , αλλά και στο στήσιμο.
Όσο για το βάρος που έκανα Άθω αλλά και διάσχιση στο Πιρίν 28 χλμ δεν με ζορισε.
Winter with a snowstorm in Vardousia, this guy nailed it.......With better grip, proper installation, and proper maintenance (not tightly wrapped in the case, and always "drying" even if it hasn't rained, installation-tightening every few months, as well as using a sun protective spray, it can withstand many years. Never machine wash. The double zipper got stuck because of lack of lubrication, so it's a dead end. Very good product.
Χειμώνα με χιονοθύελλα στα Βαρδούσια την έβγαλε παλληκάρι.......Με καλύτερα πασαλακια ,σωστό στήσιμο κ σωστή συντήρηση (! όχι τυλιγμένη στη θήκη σφιχτά,κ ΠΑΝΤΑ "στέγνωμα" κ ας μην έχει βραχει,κάθε λίγους μήνες στησιμο-ντεντωμα,όπως κ με συντηρητικό spray για τον ήλιο ,αντέχει πολλά πολλά χρόνια.Ποτέ πλύσιμο πλυντήριο.Μου κόλλησε το διπλό φερμουάρ λόγω μη λίπανσης του ,οπότε είναι μονόδρομο.Πολυ καλό προϊόν.
Excellent tent, excellent quality materials, fully waterproof, very lightweight for hiking-camping, multiple pockets on the sides, clothesline for drying clothes and flashlight placement, windproof entrance, just need to place it in the opposite direction of the wind. It sets up very easily and quickly by one person. It can fit two people, but I wouldn't recommend it. It comes with a repair kit. It is relatively expensive, but worth its money. I don't know how it behaves in wind, but it is low and compact, so I imagine it will be fine.
Εξαιρετική σκηνή, άριστη ποιότητα υλικών, πλήρως αδιάβροχη, πολύ ελαφριά για πεζοπορία-κατασκηνωση, πολλές θήκες για αντικείμενα στα πλαϊνά της, παταράκι για στέγνωμα ρούχων και τοποθέτηση φακού, ανεμοθραυστη εισόδου, αρκεί να την τοποθετήσετε στην αντίθετη κατεύθυνση του ανέμου. Στήνεται πολύ εύκολα και γρήγορα από ένα άτομο. Χωράνε και δύο άτομα, αλλά δεν θα το συνιστούσα. Έχει σετ επισκευής. Είναι σχετικά ακριβή, αλλά αξίζει τα λεφτά της. Σε αέρα δεν ξέρω πως συμπεριφέρεται, αλλά είναι χαμηλή και μαζεμένη, φαντάζομαι θα είναι εντάξει.
Flawless in weight and comfortable if you want to be alone.
I endured 5+ hours of rain & 24-hour humidity in Taygetus in October, but it remained warm and dry inside.
In Tzoumerka in January with -4 at night and high humidity, with the right sleeping bag it's still OK, if you're alone.
Easy setup but do a practice run before you find yourself outdoors as you don't know what you'll encounter if you haven't set it up before. It has its own metal pegs, I also had my own larger ones for security.
Two people can fit to keep it warmer, but you need to keep your stuff outside the tent, which in winter is not the best option.
I envy the larger Salewa that has a vestibule (mainly for shoes) as it closes and secures it, unlike the Micra which is exposed to animals that might want to play, like foxes that might nibble on your boots and lose them in the forest.
But for carrying, the weight of the Micra makes it VFM and you have no reason to look at anything else!
Άψογη σε βάρος και άνετη αν θες να είσαι μόνος σου.
Έφαγα 5+ ώρες βροχή & 24ωρη υγρασία Ταύγετο Οκτώβρη μήνα, όμως παρέμεινε ζεστή και στεγνή εσωτερικά.
Στα Τζουμέρκα Ιανουάριο με -4 το βράδυ και πολύ υγρασία, με το κατάλληλο sleeping bag είναι πάλι ΟΚ, αν είσαι μόνος σου.
Εύκολη τοποθέτηση αλλά κάνε μια προπόνηση στο στήσιμο πριν βρεθείς στην ύπαιθρο καθώς δεν ξέρεις τι θα συναντήσεις αν δεν την έχεις ξαναστήσει. Έχει δικά της μεταλλικά πειράκια, εγώ είχα και δικά μου πιο μεγάλα για σιγουριά.
Χωράνε να κοιμηθούν δύο άτομα για να τη ζεσταίνουν καλύτερα, αλλά τα πράγματα πρέπει να τα έχετε εκτός σκηνής, που τον χειμώνα αυτό δεν είναι και το προτιμότερο.
Ζηλεύω την πιο μεγάλη Salewa που έχει προθάλαμο (για παπούτσια πιο πολύ) καθώς κλείνει και τον ασφαλίζει σε αντίθεση με την Micra που είναι εκτεθειμένα σε ζώα που μπορεί να έχουν όρεξη να παίξουν πχ αλεπούδες να σου τσιμπήσουν κανένα μποτάκι και να χαθεί στο δάσος.
Αλλά για κουβάλημα το βάρος της Micra την κάνει VFM και δεν έχεις λόγο να κοιτάξεις κάτι άλλο!
This is a very good choice, incredibly lightweight tent for hiking, and while it has been used in winter and autumn in normal rain and/or high humidity, nothing got inside the tent. It is somewhat small though, very comfortable for one person, for two people (thin) it is a bit cramped.
Πρόκειται για μία πολύ καλή επιλογή, απίστευτα ελαφριά σκηνή για hiking, ενώ όσο έχει χρησιμοποιηθεί χειμώνα και φθινόπωρο σε νορμάλ βροχή ή/και πολύ υγρασία,δεν πέρασε τίποτα μέσα στη σκηνή.
Είναι κάπως μικρή πάντως, για ένα άτομο πολύ άνετη, για δύο άτομα (λεπτά) είναι λιγο στριμωχτά.
I just bought it for €200.
I set it up at home to test its materials and how quickly I can set it up.
I set it up in five minutes as the instructions are detailed but also guide you by hand.
The interior space is good for two people, although I will be using it alone, so it is more than enough.
There are several pockets for small items and to hang a flashlight.
There is also an internal zipper to allow the tent to breathe and to prevent moisture from our breath during sleep inside.
The tarp helps to leave your boots or things you don't want inside the tent.
In a few days, I will test it in the mountains, so then we will see practically how it performs, so I will get back to you soon.
*** 28/9/2024. Tested on Athos with wind in Vovousa with some humidity and in Pirin in Bulgaria under normal conditions, it performed just fine.
Of course, it hasn't faced rain yet, and I hope it never does.
Practically, it is as I wrote above, relatively light, sets up easily, and is quite convenient for getting in and out, for small items, and for setup.
As for the weight, I did Athos and also crossed Pirin 28 km, and it didn't strain me.

Την άπλωσα στο σπίτι για να τεσταρω τα υλικά της αλλα και το πόσο γρήγορα μπορώ να την στήσω.
Την έστησα σε πέντε λεπτά καθώς οι οδηγίες που γράφει είναι αναλυτικές αλλά σε πάει και μόνο του χέρι.
