Orthopedic plaster, or simply plaster, is a shell that encases a limb to stabilize anatomical structures, most commonly a broken bone, in place until healing is confirmed. It functions similarly to a splint. Plaster casts consist of a cotton bandage combined with plaster of Paris. When water is added, the more soluble form of calcium sulfate returns to its relatively insoluble form, producing heat.

Plaster casts are widely used in traumatology and orthopedics to maintain the position of bone fragments and joints. Medical plaster is a semi-hydrated calcium salt of calcium. Ideal for surgical procedures and orthopedic corrections that treat conditions of joints and bones.
