Description

CMOS 32.5 Megapixel (APS-C) Sensor

The EOS R7 features an APS-C CMOS 32.5 Megapixel sensor. It allows for fast continuous shooting with high-speed autofocus, so you can capture moment-to-moment images with clean and impressive details.

High Speed

The EOS R7 allows you to shoot quickly at 15 fps using the mechanical shutter. Up to 30 fps with the electronic shutter 3.4 and with the RAW Burst Mode function with a ½ second pre-shooting, you can capture the perfect moment down to a fraction of a second.

Fast autofocus

The high-resolution Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology from Canon uses every pixel on the imaging sensor for focus detection, covering approximately 100% width and height with up to 651 zones.

5-axis image stabilization

It features an IBIS (In-Body Stabilization System) with up to 7 points of shake correction with IS control. This can change the game for handheld videos and low-light photography.

4k Video

Professional-quality video with Smart Shoe integration for sound and HQ 4K (sampling from 7K). Then, record it all with Dual UHS II SD memory card slots for recording on both cards.

    After a life long allegiance to Nikon, this was my first step away caused by a serious disappointment with my last Nikon camera. It was a very nice, positive experience. I'm only sorry I didn't get a full-frame camera first time around. Will be upgrading to a Canon EOS R6 mark II soon.

    This review is about the bundle: Body

    Delivery, packaging: first class.
    The camera: As usual from Canon, very good build quality.
    If you are coming from an older Canon DSLR, you will need some time to get used to it, as many switches and dials are in different positions. The whole camera is full of electronics. Sometimes I get the impression that it is more of a computer than a camera.

    Pros:
    ++ Value for money
    ++ Autofocus
    ++ Speed
    ++ Image quality
    ++ Foldable and rotating screen
    ++ Almost professional video package (e.g. 4K with oversampling) for the price
    + IBIS works very well, also together with IS on the most modern EF and EF-S lenses
    + Robustness and moisture protection in practice
    + Canon and third-party (Meike) adapters work well with EF and EF-S lenses
    + Electronic viewfinder (EVF) quite good for more serious photography, many functions can be displayed
    + Battery life is good for 400-500 images even at maximum EVF setting which requires power
    + Batteries fully compatible with older 7D and 90D series DSLRs
    + Two SD cards

    Cons:
    - The combination of thumb wheel/multi-controller promotes incorrect operation
    - No built-in flash, I miss it, especially with macro photography
    - With the fully electronic shutter, the relatively slow readout time can lead to rolling shutter effects (even if the IBIS has to work harder)

    Flawless. It simply doesn't have a flash. Nevertheless, it has very good night capture.
