The Kingston IronKey Vault Privacy 50 USB stick offers 256-bit AES hardware encryption in XTS mode and is FIPS 197 certified. Digitally signed firmware protects against BadUSB attacks, while brute-force protection locks the User or One-Time Recovery passwords after 10 consecutive incorrect entries. If the Administrator password is entered incorrectly 10 times in a row, the drive cryptographically erases its data.

It supports separate Administrator, User, and One-Time Recovery passwords, with either complex password or passphrase mode. The Administrator can enable a User password and One-Time Recovery password or reset the User password. Displaying the password as it is entered and the built-in virtual keyboard help with password entry and protect against keyloggers and screen loggers. Read-only modes, which can be set by the Administrator and User, protect the drive from writes.
