The Kingston IronKey Vault Privacy 50 is a series of premium USB drives that provide enterprise-level security with FIPS 197 certification and AES 256-bit encryption in XTS mode. It includes protection against BadUSB with digitally signed firmware and safeguards against Brute Force attacks. The VP50 series is also compliant with the TAA regulation.
As encrypted storage under the physical control of the user, the VP50 series is superior to using internet and Cloud services for data protection. It supports multiple password options for Admin, User, and One-Time Recovery, with Complex or Passphrase functionalities. This enhances the ability to recover access to data if one of the passwords is forgotten.
The traditional Complex mode allows passwords from 6-16 characters using 3 out of 4 character sets. The new passphrase mode allows input of a numeric PIN, a phrase, a list of words, or even lyrics from 10 to 64 characters. The Admin can enable a User and a one-time password, or reset the User password to restore access to data.
To facilitate password entry, the eye symbol can be activated to show the typed password, thereby reducing errors during entry. The protection against Brute Force attacks blocks User or One-Time Recovery passwords after 10 consecutive incorrect passwords and encrypts the data if the wrong Admin password is entered 10 times in a row.
To protect against potential malware on untrusted systems, both the Admin and the User can set the Read-Only mode to safeguard the drive. Additionally, the built-in virtual keyboard protects passwords from keyloggers or screenloggers. With FIPS 197 certification and compliance with the TAA regulation, organizations can customize and configure the drives in the VP50 series with a Product Identifier (PID) for integration into endpoint management software to meet IT and cybersecurity requirements.
Small and Medium Enterprises can utilize the Admin role to locally manage their drives, e.g., set or reset User or One-Time Recovery passwords for employees, restore access to data on locked drives, and comply with laws and regulations when criminal investigations are required.
