The Echinodorus "Red Diamond" appeared in Ukraine and is possibly a cross between Echinodorus horemanni "red" and Echinodorus "Barthii". The resulting hybrid is an attractive plant with sword-shaped ruby leaves, measuring 15-25 cm in length. Unlike many other Echinodorus species, the Echinodorus "Red Diamond" remains moderate in size (20-30 cm in width), making it exceptionally suitable as a centerpiece plant, even in small aquariums.

Increasing nutrient levels in the substrate enhances growth, while favorable lighting conditions promote the formation of ruby leaves.
