The Varia RCT715 rear radar with built-in camera and light continuously records your ride and saves footage before, during, and after incidents if it detects an event. The bright light makes you even more visible to motorists. The Varia RCT715 integrates seamlessly with your Garmin bike computer or the Varia app on your connected compatible smartphone to alert you to traffic as you ride. The app allows live video viewing to set up the camera and video transfer so you can replay footage from your ride. A range of different modes allows you to adjust recording and lighting to maximize battery life for longer rides.

Connect the Varia rear radar with this app and cycle as if you had eyes on the back of your helmet. And if a vehicle approaches? The bright and colorful alerts on the screen will catch your attention. When your phone is out of your sight, stay informed with sound alerts
and vibration. When connected to the compatible Varia rear radar, the app alerts you to vehicles approaching from behind up to 140 meters away. Even if you have a Varia radar connected to a compatible Garmin device, using the app on your phone gives you more awareness.

    The camera-radar is amazing. I have it connected with the 1050 and also with the phone, and it works wonders. The light is really strong, tested on a bike ride and it passed the test with flying colors.
    Customization through the Varia app on iPhone or alternatively with Garmin express from Windows/MacOS.

    If you choose it, I would advise doing firmware upgrades with a cable via Garmin express and not from the app because it connects/disconnects from its WiFi hotspot and delays or rejects the process.

    The battery comfortably lasts 3+ hours. I have the feeling that in Peloton mode it might last a bit longer because it slightly dims the light and doesn't flash continuously.

    The video recording at 1080p is satisfactory (with light), don't expect anything Oscar-worthy during nighttime.

    If you're willing and able, subscribe to the Garmin vault to store your photos/videos there.

    Stable locking with a lever on the base but with a rubber band for the seat bar. I chose to also buy the saddle kit which screws onto the seat rails.
