“Well, tell me what happened here, so I can find the end of the thread again.” A book about the lyrical world of Thanasis Papakonstantinou, who has been dearly loved for his songs.
In the two parts of this poetic biography sketch – “With his own stride” and “Themes and origins” – the social dimension of Papakonstantinou's lyrics is examined, which in various ways capture the intensity of existential anxiety, as well as their connection to folk songs and modern poetry.
Additionally, through characteristic examples of songs, there is an attempt to understand the creator’s perspective towards the world and himself, society and the individual, the present and the past, memory and vision, the East and the West.
The effort to compose this book was aided by Thanasis Papakonstantinou himself, who willingly answered the author's questions regarding his poetic worldview.
