Description & Specifications

The year 1922 has indelibly marked the historical course and collective memory of Hellenism. It is the year of the great Upheaval and Destruction of the Greeks of Asia Minor, a milestone of multifaceted significance. The echoes of those world-historical events reach our days, and the dramatic consequences of the Asia Minor Catastrophe still define Greece's geopolitical and cultural position and its relations with Turkey.

The centenary anniversary of the Asia Minor Catastrophe is an important opportunity for reflection, contemplation, and, above all, for in-depth and sober approaches. This is precisely the ambition of the book "1922: The Responsibilities" by Dimitrios Lympouridis; the investigation and examination of a large volume of historical sources with a calm and sober gaze in order to answer a series of critical questions that are still burning today. What political actions and choices led to the annihilation of the long-standing Greek presence from the land of Asia Minor? Who is responsible for the political and military mistakes that led to defeat and the deep wounds of destruction and displacement? In other words, who were the main culprits of the Asia Minor Catastrophe? Dimitrios Lympouridis, himself a descendant of refugees, after a 16-year period of intensive research and study, presents the events and boldly offers his own interpretation of the Asia Minor Catastrophe through the book "1922: The Responsibilities". His verdict as a historical researcher is strict yet fair. One may disagree with it, but one cannot disagree with the facts on which it is based. They speak for themselves.
