When you use it as a balance bike, it holds better because both wheels are together. In general, I would suggest looking for something else with metal (at least at the joints) so you don't have to worry about the wheels opening and the child falling. As an idea, it's nice because it starts as a tricycle with or without a handle, and then you can turn it into a balance bike, so you can keep it for several years and stages of the child's development.
