Description

What does this product do?

The TL-SG1016PE is a 16-port Gigabit Desktop/Rack switch with 8 ports supporting the PoE+ standard. It provides an easy way to expand a wired network by transmitting power and data over a single Ethernet cable. With a total power budget of 150 W*, up to 30 W per port, the TL-SG1016PE powers more high-power devices such as wireless access points (APs), IP cameras, or IP phones. Additionally, with innovative energy-efficient technology, the TL-SG1016PE saves on power consumption, making it an environmentally friendly solution for your business network.

How this product works

8 ports TL-SG1016PE support the Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) standard, which can automatically detect and supply power to any IEEE 802.3af/at compliant devices. In this case, electrical power is transmitted along with data over a single cable, allowing you to extend your network where there are electrical cables or outlets, where you want to fix devices such as AP, IP Cameras, or IP Phones.

Overload Arrangement

The TL-SG1016PE has a priority function that helps protect the system when its power is overloaded. If the power consumption of all PoE+ devices is greater than or equal to 150 W, a priority will be assigned among the 8 PoE+ ports, and the system will cut off the power supply to the port with the lowest priority.

Port priority function

Priority (Port 1 > Port 2 > Port 3 > Port 4 > Port 5 > Port 6 > Port 7 > Port 8): This feature will help protect the system if the system's power is overloaded. For example, Ports 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 use 30 W (the maximum power per port is 30 W), the system's power is a total of 150 W (the max PoE LED light will be green if the power consumption of all PoE PDs is >= 150 W). If an additional PD is inserted into Port 5 with 20 W, then the system will cut off Port 6 to protect the system, meaning Ports 1, 2, 3, and 4 will use 120 W and Port 5 will use 20 W, and no power will be supplied to Port 6.

User-friendly

The TL-SG1016PE is easy to install and use. It requires no configuration or installation. With its desktop/rack mount adaptable design, excellent performance, and quality, the TP-LINK TL-SG1016PE 16-Port Gigabit Desktop/Rack Mount Switch with 8-Port PoE+ is an excellent choice for expanding your network.

  • I had it for 3 years and it worked like a clock. Suddenly last week it stopped working (only the power LED was on). I tried a firmware update and got it working again today, but by evening it stopped working again. Disappointing. It's not the most expensive switch in the world, but it's not cheap either to last only 3 years.

Note: I only used one PoE port for one camera.

Perfect, it connected immediately and so far it works perfectly and steadily. I don't know its durability over time (I've only had it for a month) but judging from the two previous TP-LINKs (8 & 10 ports), which I have and have been working for over 10 years, I'm sure this one will do just as well.
