Description

Description

Two-component cementitious mortar that acts as a corrosion inhibitor, for the protection of reinforcing bars.

FIELDS OF APPLICATION

  • Anti-corrosion protection of concrete reinforcing bars.
  • Adhesion promoter for repair cementitious mortars.

Some examples of applications: Prevents corrosion and restores the alkalinity of reinforcing bars during the repair of concrete with non-shrinking mortars or with common cementitious mortars modified with synthetic resin latex. Its use is indicated for both above-ground and underground structures.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

Mapefer is a two-component mortar based on polymers in an aqueous solution, cementitious binders, and corrosion inhibitors, for application on reinforcing bars to prevent rust formation.

Mapefer is ready to use, provided in two pre-weighed components: Component A (powder) and Component B (liquid). The two components must be mixed without the addition of water or any other ingredient. After hardening, it is resistant to salt fog and impermeable to water and aggressive atmospheric agents.

The anti-corrosion action of Mapefer is due to the following factors:

  • The presence of corrosion inhibitors that protect metal surfaces from oxidation.
  • The high alkalinity of the product.
  • The excellent adhesion of the product to metals.

RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Do not dilute Mapefer with water during mixing or when the product starts to set.
  • Do not add cement or aggregates to Mapefer.
  • Apply Mapefer immediately after sandblasting. Do not leave cleaned bars unprotected for long periods.
  • Do not apply Mapefer at temperatures below +5°C.
