Description

The model OLED48C26LB from the company LG, has a screen size of 48".

The resolution of the TV is 4K Ultra HD. TVs with 4K Ultra HD resolution are aimed at consumers looking for higher image quality and viewing experience compared to TVs with lower resolutions, such as Full HD or HD Ready. The 4K Ultra HD resolution, which amounts to 3840 x 2160 pixels, offers very high image quality, focusing on detail. These TVs are suitable for watching movies, sports events, gaming, and other entertainment activities that require quality image.
Additionally, these TVs are suitable for use with computers and for modern games with high demands on resolution. They are usually aimed at consumers who want the best possible viewing experience and are ready to invest in a high-quality TV.

The panel of the TV is OLED. OLED panels in televisions have many advantages over other types of panels, such as LCD and LED. Some of the advantages of the OLED panel are as follows:

1. Absolute black: The pixels of the OLED panel can turn off completely, allowing for the most absolute black in scenes. This creates an impressive contrast in images and adds depth and realism to the appearance of colors.

2. Wider color gamut: The OLED panel allows televisions to display a wider color gamut compared to other types of panels. This means that OLED televisions can display more natural, vibrant, and accurate colors.

3. Excellent viewing angle: OLED panels exhibit extremely wide viewing angles, unlike other types of panels that may deliver lower image quality when the viewer is not directly in front of the screen.

4. Response to fast-moving scenes: OLED panels have the ability to respond to fast-moving scenes with greater accuracy and without the color "fading" that can occur in other types of panels.

5. Slim design: OLED panels are very thin, allowing for the creation of slimmer and more elegant designs for televisions.

Regarding HDR, it is equipped with. High Dynamic Range (HDR) and its various types generally improve the picture quality of televisions and other video playback devices. This is achieved by increasing the dynamic range of colors and brightness of images.
The advantages of HDR are more vivid and natural colors, deeper blacks and brighter whites, more details in the shadows and highlights of the image, and more accurate color reproduction. Additionally, filmmakers can leverage HDR to produce movies with more natural and realistic images.
Finally, devices with HDR support can play content that is encoded with HDR, offering a more impressive viewing experience for the user.

It features a high refresh rate, 100Hz. Increasing the refresh rate results in improved image smoothness and reduced blurring or ghosting during dynamic presentation of fast movements or high-motion scenes. This makes the experience of watching movies, series, sports events, and games more realistic and impressive.

This model belongs to the broader family of Smart TVs. Smart TVs represent the evolution in television technology, as they incorporate Internet functions, allowing browsing of websites and the use of online applications (e.g., Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, etc.). They are, therefore, an example of technological convergence between computers and televisions. The latest Smart TVs have the capability of full Internet browsing, while older ones support access only to popular websites (e.g., YouTube, Facebook, Twitter) through appropriate applications.

Featuring another important characteristic, that of VRR, this model will enhance the Gaming experience. Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technology is used in televisions to improve the user's experience during game playback. With VRR technology, the television can adjust its refresh rate to the frame rate generated by the source, such as a gaming console, which improves image smoothness and reduces screen tearing during fast movements in games.
VRR technology helps players react accurately to the game environment and improves their performance. Additionally, VRR technology allows televisions to work better with sources that have different refresh rates, meaning televisions can work better with a wide variety of games and gaming devices.

A feature that concerns professionals in the hospitality sector is the Hotel Mode available on the model. Specifically, with the Hotel Mode function, you can customize the TV settings such as limiting the maximum volume level or disabling certain functions, like USB or HDMI. You can also protect your settings with a password so that only authorized persons can change the settings.

Additionally, the Hotel Mode function can be used to advertise your business. You can display a customized welcome or advertising message on the screen during the TV startup or show an advertising video or image at a specific time of the day.
The Hotel Mode function can also be used to maintain the TV's condition and its settings. This means that if a user changes some of the TV's settings, these changes will not be saved, and the TV will revert to the default settings upon restart.

  • After about 1 year of use and after getting familiar with its functions (and the temperament of WOLED panels), I declare myself completely satisfied with regards to movies and PC gaming. The only serious flaw I found, which gradually lowered the brightness when watching dark HDR scenes for a long time, was fixed with firmware (even if it took months). Simply to enjoy it more, you need to dedicate some time to proper settings (HDR HGiG-DTM, VRR, Atmos, etc).

P.S. I haven't connected it to a sound system, so I don't know the full compatibility with protocols (e.g. it doesn't have native DTS).

Coming from a Samsung QLED 50" 2020, which in the three years we had it left us amazed, I can say that the difference is chaotic! Excellent build quality, image, and sound! The sound is more than enough (it even has Dolby Atmos). The picture is amazing with many settings, which may be a bit overwhelming but it pays off. You can choose different settings for regular TV, YouTube, gaming! The picture is quite bright even in a room with plenty of light... personally, I have the brightness set at 50-60 and it's more than enough! The menu seems a bit "loaded" which may be adjustable in some way, but I think it's just a matter of getting used to it! I've had it for a few days so I can't find anything negative, maybe I'll come back with an update once I see all its functions! For the money, it's definitely worth it, and you can even add the extended warranty to have peace of mind. Goodbye, world!

Excellent picture, good sound, very good construction, but:
It has a bunch of "systems" for the picture and sound (which of course you pay for)! and in order to see proper picture and sound, you have to disable them...
Out of the box, the settings are terrible. It requires a lot of work and as I said, disabling all the pro and AI systems to achieve the perfect settings. And of course, this rewards you.
I wonder, can't LG have a "standard" setting that fully utilizes the capabilities of the TV and activates as soon as you plug it in!
