Charge controller suitable for installations up to 40A at 24V. This is a PWM type. PWM charge controllers simply connect the photovoltaic panel to the battery (12/24/48V), acting as simple switches.
When the switch closes, the panel voltage equals that of the battery. The result is that the voltage of the array that the PWM controller can accept depends on the battery voltage and is small, typically one or two panels of 100/200Wp in series with a correspondingly low charging current compared to the capabilities of an MPPT charge controller.
PWM charge controllers are ideal for smaller systems where system efficiency is not a critical factor and for solar collectors with a maximum power voltage (Vmp) of up to 18V for charging a 12V battery.
