Compared to your standard tripod plate, the Peak Design is definitely an upgrade. The build quality is amazing. Once it’s on the camera it is rock solid, it will not move. It attaches easily and securely to standard arca-swiss style tripod heads even with the Peak Design camera strap lugs attached. This thing lives on my camera except when I use a video cage. The only drawback is that it requires an allan key to attach and remove the plate, so I have one on my key chain and in each of my camera bags.
