The origin
The Old Skool was first introduced in 1977 as Style #36. What made the Old Skool stand out was the addition of the "Jazz Stripe", the characteristic wavy line on the side of the shoe, initially designed by Vans founder Paul Van Doren. This line is now the brand's trademark.
