This book aims to present the essential information about one of the two styles of wrestling, that of Freestyle. A characteristic of this style is that it allows the execution of holding techniques on all parts of the body, including the legs. In Freestyle competitions, both men and women have the right to participate and can compete in all events, such as national championships and international competitions.
The first part of the book provides a brief historical overview of the sport from its inception to the early 21st century.
Subsequently, the physical attributes of the athlete are discussed, as well as the appropriate ways to improve them through methods and teaching techniques that should be used for the correct learning of holding techniques.
The main part of the book presents the fundamental holds used in this style, divided into two groups: those that can be performed in an upright position and those that are executed in a down position (parter).
The final chapter addresses wrestling competitions and their organization.
