In an uncertain country, on the first day of the New Year, people stop dying. There is a great celebration, and people dance in the streets. They have achieved humanity's great goal: eternity. Soon, however, the inhabitants begin to suffer. Funeral providers face financial ruin, the church is forced to revolutionize its teachings, and the local 'mafia' smuggles those on the brink of death to the border, where they can die naturally. Death eventually returns, but with a new, gentle approach – sending violet warning letters to its victims. But what can death do when a letter goes unanswered?
