The second Rebus collection includes books 4, 5, and 6 of the Rebus series: Strip Jack, The Black Book, and Mortal Causes.
Strip Jack: MP Gregor Jack is caught in a brothel in Edinburgh with a prostitute who is very eager to show off her notable talents. Subsequently, Jack's wife disappears. Someone wants to "strip" Jack bare, and Rebus wants to know why.
The Black Book: When a close associate is brutally attacked, Rebus is drawn into a case involving a hotel fire, an unidentifiable body, and a forgotten night of terror and murder. Rebus must piece together a puzzle that no one wants completed.
Mortal Causes: It's August in Edinburgh, and the Festival is in full swing. A brutally tortured body is discovered in one of the city's ancient underground streets, and Rebus suspects the involvement of religious militant groups. The prospect of terrorism in a city filled with tourists is unthinkable.
