Richard Eyre's version of Ibsen's "Ghosts" is a fresh and vibrant portrayal of a woman longing for emotional and sexual freedom, yet too hesitant to achieve it.
Helene Alving has spent her life lingering in an emotional void following the death of her harsh yet seemingly charming husband. She is determined to break free from the ghosts of her past by telling her son, Oswald, the truth about his father.
However, upon his return from his life as an artist in France, Oswald reveals how he has already inherited the legacy of Alving's depraved life.
Eyre's version of "Ghosts" was first directed at the Almeida Theatre in London in 2013. This edition includes an introduction to the play by Richard Eyre.
