I used the lens on a Nikon D7200 body.
Advantages: Sturdy construction (although it is prone to scratches due to its matte finish), strong contrast, vibrant colors.
Disadvantages:
- The autofocus never worked accurately (you can only notice this issue when comparing one-to-one in Lightroom). I also purchased the dock to adjust the focus accuracy, but even after spending countless hours (the adjustment process is very difficult), the results were not consistent. This single disadvantage rendered the lens useless for any purpose as the photos were blurry (this was more noticeable in Lightroom).
- Completely useless at f/1.8 (the focus accuracy issue was even more significant at f/1.8). It was also extremely soft at f/1.8 (it produced good results in terms of contrast, etc. at f/5.6, but the focus was still not accurate).
- Heavy and bulky (which is expected due to the glass elements).
- No VR (Vibration Reduction).
- Strange focal range on crop sensor bodies (27-52.5).
- Quite expensive for what it offers (with the same amount of money, you can buy a used full-frame camera or an exceptional lens for a full-frame camera).
In general, before making such an investment, if possible, try and test the lens because there is an issue with Sigma lenses on Nikon bodies regarding focus accuracy (I had the same issue with the Sigma 17-50 on the D3300, D7000, and D7200). My personal experience: after using all the above-mentioned bodies and dozens of lenses, I tried a Canon 6D with the 40mm STM 2.8 lens. I was amazed by the focus accuracy compared to Nikon bodies (I have previously purchased the Sigma 17-50, Nikon 55-200 VR II, Tamron 70-300, Nikon 35mm, and Nikon 85mm. For some reason, the results are never consistent on Nikon bodies when it comes to focus accuracy with the above-mentioned lenses (except for the Tamron). Some bodies work well, while others don't. All were purchased brand new. A professional or someone who has extensively used different bodies and lenses will immediately notice this issue. An amateur might not notice it.
I'm simply saying that you should try it out for yourselves before making a purchase (borrow from friends, acquaintances, rental stores, etc.). I hope everyone is well and happy shooting.
Τον φακό τον χρησιμοποιησα σε σώμα 7200.
Πλεονεκτήματα: Στιβαρη κατασκευη (όμως επειδη ειναι ματ ειναι "ευκολος" σε γρατζουνιες), εντονο κοντραστ, εντονα χρωματα.
Μειονεκτηματα:
-Δεν δούλεψε ποτέ με ακριβεια το autofocus (μονο με ελεγχο στο lightroom θα το καταλάβει καποιος το προβλημα αυτο σε ενα προς ενα αναλογια). Πηρα και το dock για τη ρυθμιση της ακριβειας του focus. Εφαγα απειρες ωρες (πολυ κακη η διαδικασια της ρυθμισης) και παλι χωρις σταθερα αποτελεσμετα. Αυτό και μονο το μειονεκτημα αχρηστευεσε το φακο για οποιαδηποτε χρηση καθως οι φωτογραφίες ήταν θολες (φυσικα το εβλεπες πιο εντονα στο Lightroom)
- εντελως αχρηστος στο 1.8 (το προηγουμενο προβλημα της ακριβειας της εστιαης απλα ηταν τεραστιο στο 1.8) επισης ήταν τρομερα soft στο 1.8, (στο 5,6 έδινε καλα αποτελεσματα απο θεμα κοντραστ κτλ οχι ομως ακριβες focus)
-Βαρύς και ογκωδης (λογικο όμως για τα κρυσταλλα που έχει)
-Δεν έχει vr
-Περιεργο ευρος σε crop σωματα (27-52,5)
-πολύ ακριβος για αυτο που προσφερει (μπορεις με τα ιδια λεφτα να παρεις μια ff μεταχειρισμενη ή ένα εξαιρετικο φακο για ff)
Γενικά πριν κανετε μια τέτοια επενδυση αν μπορειτε βρειτε και δοκιμαστε γιατι υπάρχει θέμα με φακους sigma σε σωματα nikon με την ακριβεια της εστιασης (το ιδιο θεμα είχα με sigma 17-50 σε d3300, d7000, d7200) . H δική μου εμπειρία: μετά από όλα τα ανωτερω σωματα κια δεκαδες φακους δοκιμασα μια canon 6D με ενα φακουδακι τον 40 stm 2.8 .
Εμεινα με το στομα ανοιχτο με την αρκιβεια του φόκους σε σχέση με τα σωματα της Nikon
( εχω αγορασει στο παρελθον τους 17-50 sigma, 55-200 vr2 nikon, tamron 70-300, nikon 35 mm, Nikon 85mm. Για καποιο λογο τα αποτελεσμετα ποτε δεν ειναι σταθερα στα σωματα της νικον οσον αφορα το φοκους με τους ανω φακους (με εξαιρεση τον tamron),. Αλλα σωματα δουλευαν καλα και αλλα οχι. ΟΛα αγορασμενα καινουργια. Το ανωτερω προβλημα θα το αντιληφθει αμεσως καποιος επαγγελματιας ή καποιος που ασχολειται εντατικα και εχει δοκιμασει διαφορα σωματα και αρκετους φακους. Ενας ερασιτεχνης ισως να μην το καταλαβει.
Απλα αυτό που λεω ειναι δοκιμαστε οι ιδιοι πριν αγορασετε (απο φιλους γνωστους καταστηματα ενοικιασης εξοπλισμου κτλ) . Να ειστε όλοι καλα και καλες λήψεις.
