Unfortunately, the device's RAM management is terrible. Apps refresh in the background even if I leave the app for a few seconds as if I have a mobile with 2gb ram in 2012. Basically, the LG G3 I had in 2015 with 3gb ram worked better. Spotify closes while playing music even though I have set it as unrestricted battery, the same goes for Discord cutting off calls because the operating system closes it in the background. I don't know if it has to do with the updates, but it has been happening for at least 6-7 months since version 1.5. I had to go back to my old phone. I will do a factory reset, and I will update again, but if it doesn't improve, I will probably give it to a parent, etc., and get a serious flagship.
Edit 2 follow up:
I eventually sold it because a month after the reset, it started the same issues... I haven't seen such behavior in a phone since 2015. It is very annoying and unacceptable in 2024... Hopefully, they will fix their operating system over time. Even in simpler things, it seems that it is not refined at all, compared to a software like the s24 ultra I got now, or like my OnePlus, which is 4 and a half years old, of similar value in the market so comparable, and runs apps better in the background with 8gb ram as well! They clearly focus on supporting the newer models and neglect the older ones. Unacceptable behavior from a company that only has 3 phones and does not support one of them. Clear strategy to make you buy one of the newer models to avoid wasting resources on the old one.
I have had the phone for about 3 months. Just updated to android 13 and decided to write a review:
Coming from a OnePlus 7t, I did not expect to see such a difference for the better. I paid about 550-600 euros for both, and the np(1) does not even have a top-of-the-line processor (say gen 1 or even 888). And yet... It is one of the smoothest phones I have used. Now with android 13, it is even better. Obviously, I would not go back to OnePlus because their main advantage was the stock android, which they have now ruined. I was considering a Pixel for the camera, but unfortunately, 5g does not work in Greece and it has issues with networks in general. So I ended up with the np(1) because of the stock android.
When I first held it in my hands, it felt very light, and the vibration was strange. Yet after 2-3 weeks, I would pick up my old phone, use it a bit, and wonder why it was so bad? I think nothing wanted to achieve a premium feeling phone without going over 1000+ and they succeeded. I truly feel like I bought a phone worth double the price! No matter how it lacks in some aspects, the feeling it gives me is amazing. + Very convenient to have wireless charging. In its category, it may not have anything else besides this and the iPhone SE.
Now onto the technical aspects:
- Normal battery. About 6-7 hours of screen-on time with data or wifi on, etc.
- The screen is simply perfect. It is square and flat, like the iPhone, but without the stupid notch at the top. The bezels are symmetrical, so it does not have a "chin" or "forehead," which greatly contributes to the premium feeling I mentioned before. Even more expensive phones than this do not have such symmetry in the bezels. 120hz OLED that definitely plays a role. Brightness for Greece, I would like a little more in some cases, but I don't mind that much.
- The camera is very good. It's not pixel-perfect, but with an LMC Snapcam version of GCam, it takes amazing photos. Videos, especially during the day, reach iPhone levels, and its night mode for photos is fantastic. It's also great that you can turn on the entire glyph interface as a ring light. It provides much smoother lighting than the flash and is much easier on the eyes because with the regular flash, you simply get blinded.
- The glyph is a nice party trick, and sometimes it's convenient to have it upside down on the table so that it automatically goes into silent mode and you can simply see the notifications. It's the only phone I've ever had that I usually keep on sound, as the sounds it has for notifications and calls are extremely discreet. Until now, from 2006-7, all the phones I had were always on vibrate. Overall, though, you forget that the glyph exists.
- In terms of design, most people think it's an iPhone with a case because the shape is very similar. It's absolutely beautiful, though. I got it in white because it seemed more unique to me. The black one is cooler when the glyphs light up due to the contrast, but the white one is more unique overall.
It still needs some work to add some features and refine others. For example, while it has glyphs, there is no easy way to set a different glyph for each application. You have to go to the apps, enter the app details, go to notifications, and choose the sound there for a specific notification (e.g., WhatsApp messages) in order to change the glyph as well.
I would not recommend it to very basic users who are used to heavy Android skins like Samsung, Xiaomi. Although most of them are unaware that it exists, so it's okay.
P.S. At first, call recognition didn't work when Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE were enabled, but now they fixed it in the Android 13 update. Finally, because that was the only thing that actually bothered me...
P.S. 2 It does not include a charger with the phone, so you will need to purchase one. Anything from 33W and above with Power Delivery technology will charge it at full speed, meaning approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes from 0-100. I bought a Xiaomi charger with 33W that has dual ports (A and C) and it charges at full speed.

Δυστυχώς η διαχείριση RAM της συσκευής είναι απαίσια. Οι εφαρμογές κάνουν refresh στο background ακόμα κι αν φύγω απ' την εφαρμογή για μερικά δευτερόλεπτα λες και έχω κινητό με 2gb ram το 2012. Βασικά, το LG G3 που είχα το 15 με 3gb ram, δούλευε καλύτερα. Το Spotify κλείνει ενώ παίζει μουσική και του έχω βάλει unrestricted battery σαν ρύθμιση, το ίδιο και το discord κόβει στη μέση κλήσεις λόγω του ότι το λειτουργικό το κλείνει επειδή είναι στο background. Δεν ξέρω αν έχει να κάνει με τα updates, αλλά το παθαίνει τουλάχιστον 6-7 μήνες ήδη αυτό από τη version 1.5. Αναγκάστηκα να γυρίσω στο παλιό μου κινητό. Θα κάνω ένα reset σε εργοστασιακές μπας και, και θα ενημερώσω ξανά, αλλά αν δε φτιάξει, μάλλον θα το δώσω σε κάνα γονιό κλπ και θα πάρω κάτι σε σοβαρό flagship.
Edit 2 follow up:
Τελικά το πούλησα γιατί κανένα μήνα μετά το reset άρχισε τα ίδια... Τέτοια συμπεριφορά κινητού έχω να την δω από το 2015. Είναι κάτι πάρα πολύ ενοχλητικό που δεν δικαιολογείται εν έτει 2024... Μακάρι να διορθώσουν το λειτουργικό τους σε βάθος χρόνου. Ακόμα και σε πιο απλά πράγματα, φαίνεται ότι δεν είναι refined καθόλου, συγκριτικά με ένα software όπως το s24 ultra που πήρα τώρα, ή όπως του OnePlus 7t μου, που παρεμπιπτόντως είναι 4μιση χρονών, ίδιας αξίας περίπου όταν αγοράστηκε άρα συγκρίσιμα, και τρέχει καλύτερα τις εφαρμογές στο background, και γενικά δεν έχει θέματα έχοντας 8gb ram επίσης! Γενικά έχουν γραμμένο στο support στο nothing phone 1 και ασχολούνται μόνο με το 2 που είναι πιο flagship και τώρα έβγαλαν και 2a οπότε τελείως γραμμένο. Απαράδεκτη συμπεριφορά από μια εταιρία που έχει μόνο 3 κινητά να μην υποστηρίζει το ένα. Ξεκάθαρη τακτική για να αγοράσεις κάποιο απ' τα πιο καινούρια για να μη χαλάνε πόρους στο παλιό.
Έχω το κινητό περίπου 3 μήνες. Μόλις έγινε το update σε android 13 και μπήκα να κάνω κριτική:
Ερχόμενος από OnePlus 7t δεν περίμενα να δω τόση διαφορά προς το καλύτερο. Και για τα 2 έδωσα αντίστοιχα περίπου 550-600 ευρώ, και το np(1) δεν έχει καν τοπ σειράς επεξεργαστή (ας πούμε 8 gen 1 ή έστω 888). Κι όμως... Είναι απ' τα πιο smooth κινητά που έχω χρησιμοποιήσει. Τώρα με το android 13 κιόλας, είναι υπέροχο. Προφανώς δε θα έπαιρνα πάλι OnePlus γιατί το βασικό καλό τους ήταν το stock android που πλέον το χάλασαν. Σκεφτόμουν pixel λόγω κάμερας αλλά δυστυχώς το 5g δε δουλεύει στην Ελλάδα και γενικά έχει θέμα με τα δίκτυα. Οπότε κατέληξα στο np(1) λόγω του stock android.
Σαν feeling στην αρχή που το έπιασα στα χέρια μου, μου φάνηκε πολύ ελαφρύ, και η δόνηση περίεργη. Κι όμως μετά από 2-3 βδομάδες έπιανα στα χέρια μου το παλιό το χρησιμοποιουσα λίγο και έλεγα γιατί είναι τόσο χάλια? Νομίζω η nothing ήθελε να πετύχει ένα premium feeling κινητό χωρίς να κάνει 1000+ και τα κατάφερε. Πραγματικά νιώθω ότι αγόρασα κινητό διπλής αξίας! Όσο και να υστερεί σε κάποια θέματα, η αίσθηση που μου δίνει είναι φοβερή. + Πολύ βολικό που έχει και wireless charging. Στην κατηγορία παίζει να μην έχει κανένα άλλο πέρα από αυτό και το iphone SE.
Πάμε και στα πιο τεχνικά:
- Μπαταρία νορμάλ. Περίπου 6-7 ώρες screen-on time με δεδομένα ή wifi ανοιχτό κλπ.
- Οθόνη απλά τέλεια. Είναι τετράγωνη και flat, σαν του iphone, αλλά χωρίς το ηλίθιο notch πάνω. Τα bezels είναι συμμετρικά οπότε δεν έχει "σαγόνι" ή "μέτωπο" κάτι που του συντελεί πολύ στο premium feeling που έλεγα πριν. Επίσης ακόμα και πιο ακριβά κινητά από αυτό δεν έχουν τέτοια συμμετρία στα bezels. 120hz OLED που σίγουρα παίζει ρόλο. Φωτεινότητα για Ελλάδα θα ήθελα λίγο παραπάνω σε μερικές περιπτώσεις αλλά δε με νοιάζει τόσο.
- Κάμερα πολύ κομπλέ. Δεν είναι και πίξελ αλλά με ένα lmc snapcam version του gcam τραβάει φοβερά. Βίντεο, ειδικά τη μέρα, φτάνει σε επίπεδα iphone, και το night mode του σε φωτογραφίες είναι φοβερό. Επίσης πολύ ωραίο που μπορείς να ανάψεις όλο το glyph interface σαν ring light. Είναι πολύ πιο smooth φωτισμός από το φλας και πολύ πιο εύκολο στο μάτι γιατί με το κανονικό φλας απλά τυφλώνεσαι.
- Το glyph είναι ωραίο party trick, και μερικές φορές βολεύει να το χεις ανάποδα στο τραπέζι για να μπαίνει αυτόματα αθόρυβο και να βλέπεις απλά τα notifications. Είναι το μόνο κινητό που είχα ποτέ που το βάζω συνήθως στον ήχο, καθώς οι ήχοι που έχει για ειδοποιήσεις και κλήσεις είναι εξαιρετικά διακριτικοι. Μέχρι στιγμής από το 2006-7 όσα κινητά είχα πάντα ήταν στη δόνηση μονίμως. Σε γενικές γραμμές πάντως το glyph το ξεχνάς ότι υπάρχει.
- Σε θέμα design οι περισσότεροι νομίζουν ότι είναι iphone με θήκη γιατί όντως μοιάζει το σχήμα πολύ. Είναι πανέμορφο πάντως. Το πήρα σε άσπρο γιατί μου φάνηκε πιο ξεχωριστό. Το μαύρο είναι πιο cool όταν ανάβουν τα glyph λόγω αντίθεσης αλλά το άσπρο είναι πιο unique overall.
Θέλει ακόμα δουλειά να προστεθούν μερικά features και να γίνουν refine κάποια άλλα. Πχ ενώ έχει τα glyphs, δεν έχει εύκολο τρόπο να βάλεις σε κάθε εφαρμογή διαφορετικό glyph. Πρέπει να πας στα apps να μπεις στις λεπτομέρειες της εφαρμογής, στις ειδοποιήσεις και να διαλέξεις εκεί τον ήχο για μια συγκεκριμένη ειδοποίηση (πχ τα μηνύματα του γουατσαπ) έτσι ώστε να αλλάξει και το glyph.
Θα πρότεινα σε πολύ απλούς χρήστες που έχουν συνηθίσει σε heavy android skins όπως Samsung, Xiaomi, να μην το πάρουν. Αν και οι περισσότεροι από αυτούς αγνοούν ότι υπάρχει, οπότε οκ.
Υ.Γ. Στην αρχή δε δουλευε η αναγνώριση κλήσης όταν ήταν ανοιχτό το wifi calling και το volte αλλά τώρα στο android 13 update το έφτιαξαν. Επιτέλους γιατί ήταν το μόνο που με ενοχλούσε όντως...
Υ.Γ. 2 δεν περιλαμβάνεται φόρτισης με το κινητό, οπότε θα χρειαστεί να αγοράσετε. Οτιδήποτε από 33w και πάνω με τεχνολογία power delivery, το φορτίζει σε φουλ ταχύτητα δηλαδή περίπου 1 ώρα και 10 λεπτά από 0-100. Εγώ πήρα ένα φορτιστή της Xiaomi στα 33w που έχει διπλή θύρα (A και C) και φορτίζει full speed.
