    *CONTENT: Definitely one of my favorite books. It narrates the adventure of a group of dwarves, hobbits, and wizards on a secret mission to retrieve a treasure. MASTERPIECE!!!
    *AS AN EDITION: Excellent paper. Excellent and hardcover. It is a replica of the first edition of the book released in 1937. It comes with a map and some additional gifts. The illustrations are by the author. Very well-crafted edition. It may be a bit pricey, but the quality speaks for itself. I would recommend reading Tolkien's novels in English in general, rather than in Greek, if one has the knowledge (because the songs of the heroes in the novel lose their meaning and lyrics when translated). It will delight fans of Tolkien's world.

This exceptional gift set includes a reproduction of the very rare first edition of The Hobbit, the unique edition where one can read the original version of the story before it was reprogrammed by Tolkien in 1951.

The Hobbit was published on September 21, 1937, with a print run of 1,500 copies. With a beautiful cover design, almost a dozen black and white illustrations, and two black and red maps by the author himself, the book gained popularity and was reprinted very soon. History is already being made.

The rarity of the first edition has led to prices far above the affordable range for most Tolkien fans. Furthermore, the subsequent changes to the text – particularly those in chapter 5, when Tolkien decided in 1947 to revise the text to better align it with the events of the 'sequel', The Lord of the Rings – mean that the opportunity to read the book in its original form has become quite difficult.

This special commemorative gift set includes the first edition, so readers of all ages – not just 'children aged 5 to 9', as famously stated by Rayner Unwin in his report on the original submission – can finally enjoy Tolkien's story as it originally appeared. It also includes an exclusive CD with excerpts from recordings of Tolkien reading from The Hobbit, a special print of Thor's map that reveals the secret lunar letters when held to the light, and an accompanying booklet related to the story of The Hobbit, including related texts by JRR Tolkien.
