    I bought a new washing machine and I cut off the factory plug and connected it with an APC surge protector.
    I have been using this combination since I bought the washing machine two months ago.
    Since then, we have had at least 5 power outages and many power surges and dips in my area.
    I am sure that these two combinations have saved or at least extended the lifespan of the device.
