Description

The ASUS Prime AP201 is a 33-liter MicroATX case with tool-free removable side panels and a mesh filter on the side. It supports 360 mm coolers, graphics cards up to 338 mm in length, and standard ATX power supplies.

The mesh-designed side panels also provide easy access and improved airflow while completing a tasteful, minimalist aesthetic that can be the centerpiece of any DIY PC build.

Features

  • Quasi-Filter Mesh: Increases airflow and provides an exciting view of the components inside your build.
  • Optimized for Cooling: With support for 280 and 360 mm radiators and up to six fans, the AP201 is ready to handle the thermal onslaught of high-performance hardware.
  • Industry-Leading Spatial Efficiency: Despite its 33-liter size, the AP201 supports ATX power supplies up to 180 mm in length, graphics cards up to 338 mm in length, custom liquid cooling, and various storage devices.
  • Tool-Free Side Panels: A simple yet secure clip mechanism allows for easy removal of the chassis side panels and durability against accidental displacement.
  • Large Cable Management: The AP201 features an extensive motherboard tray with strategically placed cutouts and a 32 mm gap to hide cables out of sight.
  • Front Panel USB Type-C Support: The front panel of the AP201 features a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, allowing users to enjoy transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbps.

Breathe Freely

The design of the AP201 mesh consists of more than 57,000 precisely processed 1.5 mm holes, which are structured to increase airflow, reduce dust ingress, and collectively provide an exciting view of the components inside your build.

Stay Cool

With support for 280 and 360 mm radiators and up to 6 fans, the AP201 is prepared to handle the thermal onslaught of high-performance hardware.

Removable Dust Filter

The two 120 mm fan mounts at the bottom of the AP201 include a dust filter that can be removed for easy cleaning or to further improve airflow.

Top Space Utilization

Despite its compact size, the AP201 supports standard ATX power supplies up to 180 mm in length, graphics cards up to 338 mm in length, custom liquid cooling setups, and a range of storage devices.

Unlimited Access

Instead of forcing you to struggle with screws or potentially awkward hinges, the side panels of the AP201 use a simple yet secure clip mechanism to attach to the case. This makes them easy to remove when you want to access the interior of the chassis and resistant to accidental movement.

Cable Management

The AP201 features an extended motherboard tray with strategically placed cutouts and a 32 mm gap, giving builders ample space to hide cables out of sight and create a clean aesthetic for their DIY PC.

Flexible Connections

Apart from the two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, the front panel of the AP201 also features a Type-C port that is USB 3.2 Gen 2.

This review is about a variation of the product

Excellent case (especially since I found the white one for €60 on offer, + €20 for the 4 fans)!
I installed an mATX MSI Gaming Plus WiFi, Corsair RM650e, 2 Arctic P12 PWM fans (one PST so they can be controlled from the same fan header) as bottom intake, another 2 of the same type as top exhaust, and left the stock Wraith Spire, 2 Patriot Viper RAM 32GB-6000MHz (Passmark benchmark 8461 @6000 from 7442 @4800MHz, but in Cinebench R23 it was 14859 @6000, 15808 @5600 compared to 16275 @4800!!). The build is based on the 8700G without a GPU (it exceeded 60fps in Marvel Rivals, but stayed steadily around 50+ @6000, while around 40 @4800) and easily 120fps in Roblox (which my nephew wants) @4800 (hit 170fps @6000, but steadily around 140fps +-20. Note you need to tweak the settings, otherwise Roblox maxes out at 60fps).
In the Passmark benchmark, it reached up to 93.4°C (88°C @4800MHz), which means the stock Wraith CPU cooler is probably borderline, but we'll monitor it with HW Monitor, as it's not expected to be stressed that much in real conditions. The case easily fits a Thermalright Phantom Spirit, if needed..
The case was very easy to build in (only the 2nd one I've built, so I'm not considered experienced, just careful). The PSU position is very good, although it's probably not convenient to put an SSD or HDD underneath it because there will be cables above, but they fit easily. (There is a spot for a 3.5” SSD in the rear compartment, where the cables fit comfortably. It seems like a second one could fit, but you may need to buy a special adapter/case?). If you put the PSU all the way at the top, the cables bend quite a bit, so I preferred the middle position. Semi-modular definitely fits easily and I wouldn't be afraid (anymore) to use a full wired one for cheaper options.
The pre-installed (rear) fan is 3-pin, but was controlled by the motherboard's fan header (reached a max of 1300 rpm /1295 rpm).
The front side panel, from repeated removal and installation, has already bent very slightly (I noticed it since I built it, otherwise you can't see it with the naked eye) at the top right corner (with the logo), but in any case, the case will collect dust from the mesh. There's only a filter at the bottom, but that's where I put the intake fans. I suppose it will need cleaning more often than the Fractal Design Meshify 2 Compact with its 3 filters (my own PC), but in the latter I can't put a fan at the bottom (nor SSD or HDD)! It's filled up by the PSU and cables.
It easily fits a GPU up to 338mm (I haven't installed one).
