The game is wonderful and strongly conveys its theme as well as an element from its big brother (War of the Ring board game). It has a clever mechanism with the card cycle, which essentially means that every time you play a card you have to discard another one from your hand, and this forces you to choose what to play strategically, while also setting up your deck for the second part of the game, when the discards are shuffled and become available again as your draw deck.
Personally, I find it quite balanced thematically, but I should note that it requires at least 2 plays to get familiar with the mechanics and the cards each faction has. For 2 players, I recommend starting with the last scenario, which is "The Fellowship of the Ring" as it is shorter and more accessible.
Afterwards, you can either go into the duel where all cards are played and there is a bit more chaos in trying to create combos, or the 4 Player format, which can also be played with 2 players, with each player essentially having 2 separate decks, which is the most strategic mode. It plays wonderfully with 4 players, but I wouldn't recommend it with 3.
I would rate the game as medium complexity. The more games you play, the more it will give you. Completion time ranges from 45 minutes to an hour and a half depending on the mode you choose.
Το παιχνίδι είναι υπέροχο και περνάει έντονα το θέμα του καθώς και ένα μέρος από τον μεγάλο του αδελφό (War of the Ring board game).
Έχει έξυπνο μηχανισμό με το cycle των καρτών που στην ουσία σημαίνει ότι κάθε φορά που παίζεις μία κάρτα πρέπει να ξεσκαρτάρεις μία ακόμα από το χέρι σου και αυτό αναγκάζει και να επιλέγεις τι θα παίξεις με στρατηγική, αλλά και παράλληλα να στήνεις το deck σου για το δεύτερο μέρος του παιχνιδιού, όταν και θα ανακατευτούν τα σκάρτα και θα είναι ξανά διαθέσιμα ως draw deck.
Προσωπικά μου φαίνεται αρκετά balanced θεματικά, να σημειώσω όμως ότι θέλει τουλάχιστον 2 plays έτσι ώστε να εξοικειωθείτε με τους μηχανισμούς αλλά και με τις κάρτες που έχει κάθε faction.
Προτείνω για 2 παίκτες να ξεκινήσετε από το τελευταίο σενάριο που είναι η "Συντροφιά του Δαχτυλιδιού" και είναι πιο σύντομο και βατό.
Έπειτε είτε μπαίνετε στο duel Που παίζουν όλες οι κάρτες και υπάρχει λίγο περισσότερο χάος στο να μπορέσει κάποιος να δημιουργήσει combo, είτε στο 4 Player format που μπορεί να παιχτεί και με 2 παίκτες, έχοντας στην ουσία 2 deck ξεχωριστά ο κάθε παίκτης, όπου αυτό είναι και το πιο στρατηγικό.
Παίζει υπέροχα πάντως με 4 παίκτες, με 3 δε θα το συνιστούσα.
Το παιχνίδι θα το έβασα στη μεσαία πολυπλοκότητα.
Όσο πιο πολλές παρτίδες παίξετε, τόσο πιο πολλά θα δώσει.
Ώρα ολοκλήρωσης παίρνει από 45 λεπτά εώς 1μιση ώρα ανάλογα το mode που θα επιλέξετε.
