The board game Wayfarers of the South Tigris by Garphill Games is a strategy game set around 820 AD, during the height of the Abbasid Caliphate. Players set out from Baghdad as explorers, cartographers, and astronomers, mapping the land, waters, and sky and recording their discoveries at the House of Wisdom. They manage workers and equipment while earning victory points by mapping, upgrading their caravans, gaining inspiration from nobles, and influencing the science, trade, and exploration guilds. The game ends when a player’s marker reaches the final column of the calendar track.
