Moone Boy: The Fish Detective is the second book in the humorous illustrated series collaboratively created by Chris O'Dowd and Nick Vincent Murphy. It follows the adventures of Martin, who is trying to pull off a budget Christmas experience by buying gifts on his own.
When his parents find themselves in financial difficulty, Martin decides to get a job. Padraic helps him to go to his aunt Bridget, who runs a local butcher shop facing stiff competition from the fish shop across the street. The owner of the fish shop, Francie Feeley, is mysterious, and no one knows how he manages to survive when he doesn't seem to have any employees.
With curious motives, Martin decides to go undercover and uncover the truth, like a fishy pencil or fishy detective. During his investigation, he discovers that Francie illegally employs a group of Brazilian workers, and one of them, Fabio, becomes a good friend of his. However, when the truth is revealed, Martin will have to choose a side. Will he be able to save Christmas for everyone in Boyle?
