"November 9" by Colleen Hoover is one of those books that, even if it may not completely win you over with its story, keeps you "hooked" until the very last page – as often happens with Hoover's writing.

The plot revolves around Fallon, a young woman trying to rebuild her life after a traumatic event, and Ben, an aspiring writer. The two meet by chance on November 9th, the day Fallon plans to move from Los Angeles to New York. Despite their brief acquaintance, they decide to meet on the same day every year, with no contact in between, for five years. The book follows these annual meetings, recording how their lives evolve and how they themselves change.

The premise strongly resembles "One Day" by David Nicholls, and if you liked that, here you'll find a more "new adult" version, with the intensity, emotional ups and downs, and unexpected secrets that characterize Hoover. Personally, I wasn't particularly thrilled by the story – some coincidences and dramatic twists seemed excessive to me – but I can't deny that it was absolutely addictive: I started it and couldn't put it down until I finished.

If you like romantic stories with doses of drama, strong characters, and intense emotions, "November 9" is a quick, page-turner read that will keep you company, even if in the end it doesn't shock you as much as other works by Hoover.
