The series titled "The Virgin Marys of the Greeks" includes a brief but responsible presentation of the history of the most well-known and beloved images of the Most Holy Theotokos among the Greeks.
The love and honor given to these images become evident when they are put on display for veneration in the capital or other cities of Greece. It is then that one realizes the depth of piety, even among those considered secular, who stand in enormous lines to kiss the sacred icon, to place a flower before the Theotokos, to light their candle, and most importantly, to confide in her "from the depths of their hearts" their problems, petitions, or their "thank you" and gratitude for some miraculous intervention in their lives.
For they know that the "Mistress of the World" is the "hope and protection of the faithful," does not overlook their requests, and intercedes for "the good and beneficial things for their souls," not allowing anyone to leave her presence "ashamed."
