Description

Although during the year the Earth orbits around the Sun, we do not feel this movement even though every day the Earth is in a different position than it was the previous day.

Thus, from every new position, we view the Sun from a different angle as it moves daily from west to east. This is why we also see different constellations in different seasons.

The most popular and well-respected popularizer of astronomy in Greece guides us through the Greek sky by season, explaining and analyzing which constellations are visible depending on each season, how each month of the year got its name, and introducing us to the basic concepts of astronomy.

The edition is complemented by rich illustrative material.

Why wine has always been regarded not only as a fundamental component of nutrition but also of religion, since the Greeks believed that the juice of the grape is the blood of the god Dionysus and that by drinking wine they partake of the blood of the god. The worship of Dionysus encountered several difficulties. Initially, there was even some suspicion towards wine, as reflected in many related myths. Take, for example, an Attic myth that connects the constellation of Virgo with wine. According to this myth, the constellation of Virgo represents Erigone, the daughter of Icarius, who was the first to welcome Dionysus in Attica and from whom she learned the art of making wine.
