Description

The shocking story of the passionate love between Boris Pasternak and Olga Ivinskaya – the true tragic story that inspired "Doctor Zhivago".

"Doctor Zhivago" has sold millions of copies, but the true love story that inspired it has never been fully explored. Pasternak often said, "Lara exists; go meet her," directing his visitors to the love of his life and his literary muse, Olga Ivinskaya. They met in 1946 at the literary magazine where she worked. Their relationship lasted until the end of their lives.

Olga paid a huge price for her love for her "Boria." She became a pawn in an extremely political game and was imprisoned twice in labor camps due to her association with him and his controversial work. Her story is one of incredible courage, devotion, pain, tragedy, drama, and loss.

Based on archival and family sources, Anna Pasternak's book reveals for the first time the critical role Olga played in Boris's life and argues that without Olga, "Doctor Zhivago" probably would not have been completed or published.

Anna Pasternak is an author and a member of the famous Pasternak family. She is the great-granddaughter of Leonid Pasternak, the impressionist painter, and the Nobel Prize-winning author Boris Pasternak, who was her great-grandfather. She has written three previous books.
