Top specs

  • Type

    Ultra-Wide Zoom

Ultra-wide angle lenses with zoom capability and a shooting angle of approximately 180°. They have a strong distortion effect which is usually the desired effect. Their focal distance usually starts from 15-23mm in full frame, 8-15mm in crop frame, and 30-45mm in medium format.

  • Mount

The type of mount that the camera body must have in order for the lens to be fully functional when attached to it.

    2. Some lenses can be used with older mounts from the same manufacturer, sacrificing certain functions (e.g. autofocus), or even with mounts from other manufacturers using an adapter.

  • Item

Lenses with variable optical (zoom) that remain equally bright (same maximum aperture value) throughout the entire focal distance range they offer. Usually significantly more expensive than their variable aperture counterparts.

    Fixed Focal Length

Lenses with fixed optics are usually of higher quality than a corresponding zoom lens at the same focal distance. They are also called "fixed" or "prime" lenses.

  • Sensor Type

    Full Frame

Photographic lenses designed for use on full frame sensor cameras. A full frame lens can also be used on a crop frame sensor camera, but with its focal length adjusted according to the corresponding crop factor.

For example, a full frame lens with a focal length of 50mm (standard) on a camera body with a crop factor of 1.6 will function with a perspective as if it were an 80mm lens (telephoto).

The reverse does not work as the optics of a crop frame lens are not sufficient to cover an entire full frame sensor, resulting in the edges of the frame being black (severe vignetting).

  • Maximum Aperture (f)

Opening the diaphragm determines the amount of light received by the camera and affects the depth of field.
    2. The most open aperture of a lens is called the maximum. The more open the aperture (smaller f-number), the shallower the depth of field.

Description

Description

The NIKKOR Z 17-28mm f/2.8 is an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens for Nikon Z-system mirrorless cameras. It is ideal for capturing landscapes, architecture, events, interviews and travel adventures. Its fast, constant aperture allows creative control over depth of field and comfortable shooting in natural light. It delivers outstanding sharpness with limited distortion and a minimum focusing distance of just 19 cm. Its lightweight construction features comprehensive sealing against dust and water droplets.

Versatile 17–28mm Range & Constant f/2.8 Aperture

The 17–28mm focal range lets you switch instantly from dramatic ultra-wide shots to classic street and interior compositions. The constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 maintains consistent exposure throughout the zoom range, delivering reliable performance in low light, along with large, soft bokeh for a dreamy background.

Close Focusing Distance of 0.19 m & Optimized for Video

With a minimum focusing distance of just 0.19m, the lens fills the frame with vivid subject details, emphasizing perspective. For video, the elimination of focus breathing keeps framing consistent during focus changes, while the silent AF mechanism quickly locks onto the subject without unwanted noise.

Lightweight Body, Sealing & Protective Coating

Designed for life on the go and travel, this lens stands out for its light weight and 67mm filter thread. Its construction is fully sealed against dust and water droplets, while the special protective coating on the front element effectively resists fingerprints, smudges, and dirt.
