Description

The Holy Quran is for the Muslim world the sacred text that defines its religious life. Correspondingly, for the Jews, we have the Old Testament, and for Christians, the Old Testament and the Gospel. Christians consider the Old Testament a precursor and preparation for the world to receive the Gospel. Therefore, they widely use it for its divine law, prophecies, narratives, and moral teachings.

The Quran inspires and guides millions of people scattered across all corners of the earth. A statistic from 1952 places the number of believers at four hundred million. Today, this number is deemed incorrect; it is much larger. Contemporary statistics estimate their number to be over two billion believers.

Their significant presence is found in parts of Asia, the Arab world, the northern regions of Africa, and islands of the East. Small and large communities of Muslims, as well as national communities, exist in Europe. They are remnants of the Ottoman expansion and dominance in Europe for a full four hundred years. We find pockets of Muslim societies in America and Canada as a result of migration.

In present times, extensive international efforts are being made to understand the Muslim reality through interfaith dialogues.
