After eight years of research at the Registry Office of the Municipality of Thessaloniki and cross-referencing the data we gathered with various archives, we managed to find the names of the Jewish children born in Thessaloniki between 1925-1943.

We found that about 500 school-aged children were rescued, while more than 10,000 were displaced during the Nazi occupation from Thessaloniki to Auschwitz and were brutally murdered.

The outcome is even more tragic for the preschool-aged children born between the years 1937-1943, with about 100 rescued while more than 4,500 were displaced to Auschwitz and killed.
