Inequalities in the educational system have become the subject of sociological research worldwide in recent decades. Initially, studies demonstrated that opportunities within an educational system vary depending on the social class of the student.

Subsequently, feminist approaches in the sociology of education highlighted that beyond the relationship of "class inequality - degree of school success," there exists another type of inequality related to the gender of the student.

The perpetuation of certain stereotypical perceptions about gender roles within the educational system results in the reproduction of inequalities between the two genders regarding their educational and professional choices.
