The book "Second / Foreign Language in Early Childhood. Educational Activities in Playful and Digital Environments" highlights the importance of applying a modern and scientifically substantiated framework for introducing appropriate educational activities aimed at the early development of language skills in a second/foreign language.
It also emphasizes the necessity of awakening intercultural awareness, through the development of intercultural skills from early childhood.
The proposed 70 experiential activities, which are classified based on three preparatory stages of the language level A1, aim at the early multiliteracies of young children, so they can come into contact with Greek or English as a second/foreign language and become sensitive to cultural diversity.
The activities are implemented in playful and digital environments, where the skills required for future 21st-century citizens are cultivated, and they have been tested for their effectiveness in real classroom conditions with children aged 5 to 7 years.
The book aspires to be a reservoir of creative ideas and, consequently, a source of inspiration for educators, researchers, undergraduate and graduate students, parents, and program designers aimed at the early exposure of young children to a second/foreign language.
