Description

The Gigaset cordless phone is environmentally friendly. This is due to the ECO DECT technology featured in the Gigaset Comfort 550 series. But what exactly does ECO DECT mean? The phones emit no radiation when in standby mode, even when using multiple handsets, provided that the base and all connected handsets support ECO DECT. During a call, the transmission power automatically adjusts to the distance between the handset and the base. This means that the shorter the distance between the base and the Gigaset Comfort 550 handset, the lower the radiation. To use the maximum DECT range, you can also disable the ECO DECT function at any time.

The address book of the Gigaset Comfort 550 makes communication easier, as it can store up to 200 contacts, each with three phone numbers. The programmable speed dial keys allow you to reach your favorite contacts more quickly. Additionally, thanks to the automatic birthday reminder, you will never miss such important occasions again. You can also choose your own VIP ringtones for the most important people in your life, so you can immediately know who is calling you.

Finally, it can block unwanted calls. The newly developed comfortable call protection reliably protects you from advertising calls or dangerous phone scams. You can easily block up to 150 phone numbers: Unwanted callers can be added to a blacklist or transferred directly from the call history log. You can also block or mute anonymous callers at any time. At the same time, you can give preferential treatment to certain contacts by entering them into a VIP address book, so you have easy access to the contacts at any time.

Top Ergonomics and Digital Usability

The Gigaset COMFORT 550 offers an exceptionally pleasant user experience thanks to its large, high-contrast TFT color display, which ensures maximum readability with clear graphics and fonts. For even greater convenience, the Jumbo function allows the display of large numbers during calls, while the illuminated keypad with large keys and the central 5-way navigation key make operation simple and direct.

High Definition HD Sound and Connectivity

Equipped with innovative acoustic technology, the phone offers certified HD Voice quality both on the handset and in hands-free conversations. It features a built-in speaker and a 3.5 mm port for connecting wired handsfree headphones, allowing you to work hands-free. Additionally, the device is fully compatible with hearing aids, ensuring accessibility and clear sound for all users.

Smart Management and Blocking of Unwanted Calls

Protect your privacy with the ability to block up to 150 phone numbers through the blacklist. You can mute anonymous callers, set time periods during which the phone will not ring, or allow calls only from your contacts. At the same time, the VIP feature allows you to distinguish important callers so you can receive their calls at any time.

Room Monitoring Function and Alerts

The built-in “Room Monitoring” function turns the device into a reliable assistant, as it can notify you of noise or crying by automatically calling another internal or external phone. The phone also features smart light indicators: the message key flashes for missed calls, while the call key lights up green during an incoming call or stays solid green during an open conversation.

  • If the battery dies, the time and date are lost, also when deleting missed calls, they are not deleted from both devices. I did not have these problems with 3 different Panasonic models I used over the last 20 years.

  • They work just fine. Greek support, easy contact transfer from one device to another, strong ringtone, good sound quality. I like that the screen saver is the time (clearly visible even in the dark).
Note that you can only talk from one device (whichever you pick up first).

    Gigaset for ever!
    And let me explain.
I got the comfort 550 duo on 5/1/2026,
The purpose was to replace gigaset as180 devices (2 handsets on one base) that have been working flawlessly since 2008. In the last few months, they started having problems.
I disconnect the old base and plug in the new one.
I register the old handset (as180) to the new base (comfort 550).
I copy the contacts from the old handset (in Greek, please) to the 2 new ones (!).
    Ready!
In terms of range, it works just like the old gigaset. I am on the 2nd floor and the handsets reach down to the ground floor.
Continuing my search regarding the capabilities of the comfort 550, I did the following setup:
I disconnected them from the factory base (put it back in its box...) and bound them to the comote fiber router I have. Both handsets work perfectly! I kept only the small base which is just a charger, and I use the handsets alternately. While one is charging, I use the other.
    Conclusion: Get it!

  • The phones do not communicate with each other. In a maisonette with 2 floors, this is necessary and that's why I bought it. If you answer a call from one device, the other is dead. The previous one (Panasonic) had this capability.
The good points: Color screen, loud sound, Greek menu.

Very good landline phone! For what it offers, it is worth it and more!
It is better for someone to spend 110 euros and get 2 good devices that communicate with each other and without strong radiation due to ECO DEC. Even with a wired connection, it is much better!
Compared to a wireless phone for 30 euros from a well-known company, it is 10 levels above!!
