One does not need any special knowledge to understand as soon as they hold it in their hands that at that moment they are holding something exceptional! It was acquired somewhere in mid-February 21 at an unbelievable price as the last piece, and since then it has been tested numerous times in freezing temperatures (and with the sensation in some cases being even lower) almost always combined with not very warm underwear, and I can assure you that this jacket, weighing only 600 grams (no small feat), does not feel the cold.
The waterproofing is good and durable, resistant to moderate rain, and regardless of the exposure time, you will return home dry. However, I cannot vouch for it in heavy rain as in such conditions, and in order to have peace of mind, I usually rely on the 2L Gortex membrane, which is integrated into a product of the same company. The jacket "breathes" well, allowing us to easily use it in temperatures up to 20 degrees Celsius. If we are going to sweat anywhere, it will be in the neck area due to the rich fleece lining that has been accurately placed on the entire collar. Besides helping to retain heat on cold-very cold days, it also adds a touch of luxury to the overall ensemble. The sleeves have the right length and elastic at the cuffs, which I wouldn't mind if it were a bit tighter, but still, it's fine. The hood is simply the best I have seen, with a hard plastic casing all around for easy handling and immediate placement on our head. It comes in a straight line, slightly longer at the back, although I think it would be better to order one size smaller than what you usually wear. The pockets are spacious and warm, but there are only 2 side pockets, which is probably at least unacceptable for a jacket that is intended not only for urban use but also for outdoor activities. Furthermore, the fact that the tightening straps (for the waist area, please) are placed inside these pockets and can scratch the screen of your phone or anything else delicate, I consider it a sheer stupidity. Even so, this product is still a 5-star until the moment you see and then test the annoying main zipper. It is something with sparse "teeth" (or whatever they are called) that gets stuck every now and then, and it would be more suitable for a jacket from the 2-euro bin thrown on a forgotten counter of the most worn-out and declining popular Chinese market, and not on the "Quest insulated". Don't be fooled by the "YKK" label, as there are quality variations even in those, and here TNF made sure to place it in one of its most value-for-money jackets of all time! Unfortunately, these two flaws will deduct one point from it, although judging it overall from what little I understand, it will be hard to find something comparable for up to €150
