The book is included in the Eudoxus bibliography database (book code: 112702970). This book arose from the need of students and educators to have a picture, as clear and concise as possible, of the basic figures of speech that predominantly characterize poetry (without, of course, excluding their use in prose).
It is a common secret that there is confusion surrounding figures of speech, which is largely due to the fact that educators are not systematically taught these figures at the University, and the resources available do not clarify matters in a comprehensible and economical way.
This book aims to fill that gap both in terms of theory and practical application. The examples come from both the folk tradition and well-known literature and pertain to authors who are taught in schools or university philological departments, so that the analysis of poetic language, which is a key element of literary literacy for students, can be facilitated and checked through a handy manual like this one.
However, I hope the utility of the book is broader than just in the classroom or university setting, so that those who engage with the art of language, whether amateurishly or as readers, can find in it some of the keys that make literary language a new language that recreates the world.
