Description

In the five years since the previous (second) edition of the book, Family Law has undergone numerous legislative interventions. The first concerns consensual divorce and the amendments introduced by Law 4509/2017.

The second area where significant legislative developments have occurred is in the law of parental care, which has been substantially reformed by Law 4800/2021. Furthermore, regulations relevant to Family Law have also been incorporated into other recent legislation, such as Law 4538/2018, which included provisions regarding the institution of minor adoption and the process preceding the adoption, and established specific registers for Minors and Prospective Adopters and Foster Parents.

Additionally, the very recent Law 4934/2022 established the possibility of an "immaterial" consensual dissolution of cohabitation agreements based on the model of consensual divorce. The mandatory initial mediation session of Law 4640/2019 also pertains to several Family Law cases.

Another innovation of this edition is the extensive incorporation into the manual of the rich processing of Family Law from case law. Finally, in this edition of the book, an attempt is made for the first time to record the rules governing the so-called free union, that is, cohabitation outside of marriage without a cohabitation agreement being established. This was deemed appropriate not only because such a chapter usually absent from Family Law Manuals, but also in light of the mobility observed in this area in recent years.

The above content makes this the most updated and complete work in the field of Family Law, with a systematic and easily understandable structure, aimed at judges, lawyers, and all scholars of Family Law.
