The Malossi variator is the front pulley for power transmission via a belt to the rear wheel of the scooter. Scooters from the factory are designed to shift 3 automatic speeds, with the presence of the variator being the main reason this happens.
Malossi variators are designed to improve scooter performance, allowing the possibility of shifting 5 speeds instead of 3.
