The Stoic Philosophy shapes individuals with enviable character and greatness of soul; individuals who harmoniously combine seemingly contradictory dispositions in their way of life: free will with acceptance of necessity, strictness with tolerance, theory with practice, vigilance with tranquility, love for life with acceptance of the idea of death, patriotism with cosmopolitanism - forming a balanced character through these contrasts.

The Stoics systematically asserted that philosophy aims to teach an art of living. They considered philosophy as the exercise of an art useful for life, thus by definition destined to be applied in practice.
