In the turquoise paradise of Kimolos, young Phaidon arrives for the first time. Accompanied by three Kimolos friends, his admiration soon transforms into love for Kimolos and the emerald island of Polyaigos.
Fiction and reality meet as Phaidon encounters the islanders of the past who have left their mark on Kimolos. Through tales of real and amusing incidents, he presents the story of the Cycladic island, Kimolian customs, unique beaches, the Medieval Castle, churches, rare flora and fauna, bees, sea lilies, samphire, monk seals, and sea turtles, reminding us of the importance of environmental protection.
Our hero, getting to know Beba from Aliki, Captain Augustis with his caique, Captain Winter, Fotis with Cine Kalespiriti, Lena and Kostas, the honey producers, conveys the authenticity of the islanders in the Cyclades’ Arzandiera.
The book "A Little Kimolian" was written with the assistance of the residents and the Volunteer Group of Kimolos “Kimolistes” NPO, aiming to introduce readers to Kimolos and preserve Kimolian traditions.
The illustrations are the result of collaboration with Mr. Fotis Marinakis, the author, and illustrator Mateya Arkova. Turquoise crystal waters, colorful pebbles, wild goats on the cliffs, and tamarisks for shade. Seals play in the water, gliding through the turquoise depths, like transparent blue tulle. Few trees root on steep cliffs facing a blazing sun. Sapphire waves roll slowly, embracing the pebbles and the semolina beach.
