Description
The α7R V features a new dedicated AI processing unit for enhanced subject recognition and remarkable still image quality and resolution. And there's more: 8K movie recording, 8-step image stabilization, a new 4-axis multi-angle LCD screen, and advanced connectivity and workflow.
A new level of resolution
The new generation of the α7R series continues the effort to achieve high image resolution, providing the highest resolution at low sensitivity in this series so far. The 35 mm Exmor R™ CMOS full-frame back-illuminated image sensor with 61.0 million pixels and the most advanced BIONZ XR™ image processing system are utilized to the maximum extent, offering incredible resolution and subjects with rich fine details.
Selectable size and RAW image quality
RAW image compression without loss offers higher quality images for continuous burst shooting, with a choice between three lossless compression image sizes. The M and S sizes have the same number of pixels (26M/15M) whether shooting full-frame or in APS-C mode, making it possible to seamlessly switch between full-frame and APS-C viewing angles in the same scene while maintaining the same image resolution.
Real-time Human Eye Autofocus
With the groundbreaking AI processing unit, the a7R V can utilize real-time recognition with autofocus to accurately identify human movements, providing approximately 60% improved human eye recognition compared to the a7R IV. The human pose estimation technology uses human forms and postures through the learning process, recognizing not only the eyes but also the position of the body and head with great accuracy, making it possible to lock onto and track a subject looking away from the camera or wearing a mask.
Continuous Shooting
With the mechanical shutter, even the high resolution of the α7R V is achieved, in continuous shooting at up to 10 fps with autofocus/exposure tracking. The level of reliability in speed and tracking makes it easier to capture the most photogenic moments and expressions with moving subjects. Continuous shooting of up to 583 images in compressed RAW at 10 fps is possible.
Full-time DMF
When taking photos with AF-C or AF-S autofocus, the lens focus ring can be rotated to switch to manual focus mode at any time. This facilitates returning the focus to the original subject if the autofocus shifts to a different subject, for example, by simply rotating the focus ring.
S-Log3 gamma curve with 14+ stops of dynamic range
The S-Log3 gamma curve emphasizes gradation characteristics from shadows to mid-frequency grays (18% gray), achieving up to 14+ stops of latitude. Three color gamut settings are provided: S-Gamut, S-Gamut3, and S-Gamut3.Cine. These advanced settings facilitate matching footage shot on the a7R V with footage shot on VENICE and VENICE 2 digital cinema cameras or FX series cameras equipped with S-Log3 gamma curve settings, for smooth and efficient post-production.
The Viewfinder QXGA with the highest resolution in its category
The 9.44 million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder provides the highest resolution, approximately 1.6 times the resolution of the previous UXGA Tru-Finder™ viewfinder. It also features significantly improved optical and mechanical design, achieving a world-record viewfinder magnification of 0.90x, and a diagonal field of view of 41° (approximately 43° for the entire screen area).
