The Strategic Plan for Sustainable School (S.P.S.S.) describes the vision and processes for members of the school community to work together through a whole school approach to transform into a learning team and convert their school into a Sustainable School.
The development process of the S.P.S.S. is based on the principles and philosophy of strategic planning and includes three phases: the pre-development phase, the introduction phase, and the evaluation phase. Specifically, it involves the formulation, orientation, and commitment to a common virtuous and sustainable vision and the development of the main objective of the Sustainable School.
This requires the exploration of the current state of the internal and external environment of the school unit, the formulation of policies and guiding principles of sustainability, the development and implementation of activities that incorporate the three key focus areas of the Sustainable School: the pedagogical, the social-organizational, and the environmental.
It also includes opening the school to the local community and evaluating the results with the help of specific control indicators of the Sustainable School.
This specific strategic plan is supported by a training program for in-school staff development, aimed at adequately preparing the teachers of the school unit to actively engage in all phases and processes of it.
