Description

Description

The MF289F by ZTE is a router that connects other devices, such as computers, mobile phones, and televisions, either wirelessly or via cable, sharing internet access. It connects to the 4G network, offering significantly higher speeds compared to 3G, provided there is corresponding coverage in the area. It broadcasts a signal on two frequencies, 2.4 & 5GHz, offering higher speeds and the ability to connect more devices. The 2.4GHz frequency is widespread with a large range, while the 5GHz provides higher speed but is more sensitive to obstacles. It supports WiFi mesh, eliminating dead zones and providing seamless WiFi throughout the home with higher speeds. The device has VPN (Virtual Private Network) configuration capability, offering anonymity and access to geographically restricted content. MAC address filtering allows specific devices to connect based on their unique MAC address.

  • Operating Frequency: Dual Band (2.4 GHz & 5 GHz).

    • The DBDC (Dual Frequency Dual Transmission) technology allows a maximum theoretical speed of 1.7 Gbps (1700 Mbps) on Wi-Fi.

  • Connected Users: Supports simultaneous connection of up to 64 users (devices).

  • Easy Mesh: Supports the Easy Mesh standard for extending the Wi-Fi network with other compatible routers (mesh networking).

I received the router today [for free] with Vodafone's giga wifi home program. I live in a village where I had no more than 14mbps speed [adsl] and there is no possibility of upgrading the speed. Since today, with this router, I am getting 100 to 150mbps download and 22 to 40mbps upload depending on the time of day I go online. I think it is the best choice for areas that do not have the possibility of speed upgrades and have been stuck with simple 24mbps adsl speeds, which of course their actual speed is much lower... guys, don't think about it at all!

It is the best value for money that someone can buy for 150 euros for an LTE router, provided that they install OpenWRT on it.
The only store where someone can find it at this price is at Vodafone, where you can sign a zero monthly fee contract in the "Connection Package with 4G router worth 149€ and free SIM card" program.
I bought it this way, installed OpenWRT on it, and I use it with an extra-SIM card on an unlimited plan from Cosmote (since Vodafone has poor signal where I live).
